For example, Asparagus seeds are to be used carefully over the swellings observed in mumps. What you have to do is that mix equal amounts of these seeds along with the Fenugreek seeds and make it as a paste.

However, there is a school of thought that if you provide more acidic drinks, this may increase the saliva and hence, don’t give acidic drinks.

Provide non acidic drinks like water and milk. Try to advise that spicy food items are to be avoided since they may increase the discomforts to the children affected with mumps.

Warm heating pad or preferably a warm cloth is good to provide the required heat to the swollen salivary glands.

Cooked cereals, mashed potatoes etc. shall be given as alternate home remedies for mumps since they are easy to digest. Avoid diary products as home remedies for mumps  and however milk may be exempted.
